The Vendor is required to provide an enterprise grade WordPress hosting solution for university affiliated websites.
- Vendor will deliver a secure, scalable, high availability platform, and provide strategic consultation to help the university meet its goals for performance, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
- The services include:
•    Deliver enterprise grade WordPress hosting infrastructure capable of supporting a large number of WordPress sites, including standalone sites and multiple multisite networks.
•    Maintain high performance, uptime, and availability for mission critical University websites.
•    Apply strong security and compliance standards, including monitoring, patching, backups, incident response, and access controls.
•    Provide flexible and scalable infrastructure that grows with university needs and accommodates both high traffic enterprise sites and lower impact self-service sites.
•    Support a decentralized user environment by enabling varying levels of administrative control and autonomy among site owners.
•    Provide responsive and knowledgeable technical support, including a clearly defined escalation path for critical issues.
•    Offer expert consultation on optimizing site organization, network architecture, and resource utilization, with a focus on cost efficiency.
•    Integrate with existing University systems, including Single Sign On (SSO), as needed.
•    Equip Digital Services with tools and interfaces (such as dashboards and reporting) to manage the hosted environment effectively.
•    Propose a transparent and adaptable pricing model that reflects actual usage and accommodates future growth.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery - Provide automated daily backups stored securely offsite, with the ability to restore either an individual WordPress install (not a subsite of a multisite) or an entire multisite network.
- Enterprise grade WordPress hosting infrastructure - Provide and maintain a secure, high-performance WordPress hosting environment, including server setup, configuration, ongoing security updates, and proactive monitoring.
- Development Workflow WordPress Multisite Capability - Fully supports WordPress Multisite, including performance optimization and resource allocation specific to multisite architecture.
- Infrastructure Scalability - Demonstrate the ability to scale infrastructure seamlessly in response to traffic spikes and increased resource demand.
- Domain Configuration - Support custom domain configurations and domain masking, allowing mapping of custom domains, subdomains, and subdirectories to hosted WordPress sites.
- Root Cause Analysis and Platform Stability - The vendor will provide tools that support detailed root cause analysis of platform-level issues. These tools will include mechanisms to isolate and mitigate the impact of PHP or database errors, ensuring site availability and stable platform performance.
- Media Offloading and External Storage Integration - The vendor will support media offloading to an external storage service such as Amazon S3 or an equivalent. This functionality will accommodate large media libraries and improve site performance and storage efficiency.
- Managing hosting and platform infrastructure, Digital Services provides support and consultation on digital accessibility, usability, performance, and security.
- The team ensures that websites across campus meet University standards while remaining flexible enough to support a diverse array of site owners and use cases, including high visibility, mission critical websites and student run project sites.
- The University has widely adopted WordPress and the Digital Services solution, thanks to the team’s strong work and the reliability and availability of the hosting environment.
