The Vendor is required to provide an experienced on-call WordPress (“WP”) developer to provide ongoing support, maintenance, and project-based development for websites, both hosted on WP Engine (the “Services”).
- Provide for web development services only, not full-service marketing or creative support.
- This developer will serve as a reliable backup to our internal web developer, stepping in as needed to handle tasks ranging from routine content updates and plugin management to larger initiatives such as redesigning full site sections, creating new pages, making code revisions, or implementing new features.
- The ideal candidate will be highly comfortable working within the WordPress environment, able to navigate complex site structures, and willing to collaborate in an environment where internal staff also make regular updates.
- This work will be structured as an ongoing, open-ended engagement.
- The selected developer will be expected to respond quickly to urgent needs, such as site outages, while also managing planned projects scheduled well in advance.
- The developer will conduct monthly maintenance to ensure that plugins, themes, and core files remain secure, stable, and up to date. We are looking for dependable, communicative professionals who can provide seamless coverage when internal resources are unavailable while contributing technical expertise to long-term site stability and improvement.
- Requirements include:
• Demonstrated expertise in WordPress development, including backend administration, customizations, coding, troubleshooting, and plugin management.
• Ability to work within WP Engine hosting environments and familiarity with its tools, staging workflows, and performance features.
• Proven experience managing both urgent support needs and long-term, planned projects.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with internal staff who also contribute to site updates.
• Ability to navigate and maintain complex site structures across two distinct websites.
• Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)/Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA knowledge: familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices for ADA-compliant website design.
• Commitment to performing monthly maintenance to ensure security, stability, and up-to date functionality.
• Availability to provide timely responses during emergent situations.
