The Vendor is required to provide wayfinding signage supply services for everyone to explore, navigate, and connect with all corners of our community.
- The wayfinding system will be designed to:
1. Enhance urban legibility
• The primary objective of this system is to enhance the legibility of the city.
• All components must work in concert to help residents and visitors alike form a clear and coherent mental map of city, revealing the structure of its paths, the boundaries of its districts, the focus of its nodes, and the location of its landmarks.
2. Support mobility, walkability, and sustainability
• Encouraging more walking, biking, and transit use promotes public health, reduces traffic congestion, and improves air quality.
3. Boost tourism and local business
• A friendly, easy-to-navigate city attracts visitors, making it easier for them to explore local businesses, cultural destinations, and points of interest.
- Phased approach
1. Pre-production submittals and approvals
• Material and finish submittals: physical samples of all specified materials, finishes (including paint color drawdowns and sheens), and components for formal review and written approval by the city’s project team.
• First-article prototype fabrication: the city’s approval of all material and finish samples, the proponent shall fabricate and deliver one fully-finished, production-quality prototype of each sign type.
• Final prototype approval: prototypes will be rigorously reviewed by the city's project team to confirm they meet all specifications and match the previously approved material and finish samples.
• No mass fabrication for phase 1b shall begin until the city has provided final written approval of these first-article prototypes.
2. Production and rolling delivery (completion by May 1, 2026)
• Following prototype approval, the proponent will commence full production.
• To facilitate efficient project flow, the city will accept rolling deliveries of the signage.
• As a substantial quantity of a specific sign type is completed, it should be shipped to the city’s designated facility.
• This approach avoids a single, large-volume final delivery, allowing the city's installation contractor to begin work sooner.
• All specified signage for phase 1 must be delivered by May 1, 2026.
- The sign system design intent and specification
1. Fabrication and finishing
• The manufacture of all sign components in strict accordance with the provided design intent drawings and specification documents, meeting all requirements for materials, finishes, and graphic applications.
2. Shop drawings
• The development and submission of detailed shop drawings for all signage components.
• These drawings must be submitted for review and final approval by the city’s project team prior to commencing any fabrication.
3. Hardware and material equivalency
• The procurement and use of specified proprietary hardware systems or the submission of proposed alternatives for approval.
• Any proposed equivalent must be proven to meet or exceed the performance, durability, and aesthetic standards of the specified products.
• All substitutions and deviations from sign system design intent drawings are to be approved in advance by the city.
4. Installation instructions
• The development of comprehensive, step-by-step installation instructions for each sign type.
• This documentation must be sufficiently detailed to allow the city’s separate installation contractor to assemble and handle all components correctly, ensuring the final product’s integrity and adherence to design standards.
- Material specifications
• Include options for specified materials, with a clear emphasis on value-engineered alternatives where practical.
• Exact final material options to be determined and approved by the city.
• Focus on materials that offer high-performance anti-vandalism and protection without incurring excessive costs or over-engineering.
• All fabricated components must adhere to a dimensional tolerance of ±1/16 inch from the dimensions specified in the final, approved shop drawings.
• The city reserves the right to reject any components that fall outside of this specified tolerance.
