The vendor is required to provide g legal counsel in ensuring that the hire, retention, promotion, and termination of all foreign national employees for the city comply with federal immigration laws including but not limited to the following:
• General information on immigration implications of hiring foreign national workers
• Preparation of i-983 applications for f-1 stem optional practical training employment authorization document extensions
• Preparation and submission of h-1b lottery registration for all departments
• Preparation and filing of h-1b petitions to obtain and maintain work authorization for all department foreign national employees
• Preparation and filing of state applications for eligible Canadian and Mexican foreign nationals, as needed
• Preparation and filing of e-3 visa applications for Australian foreign nationals, as needed
• Preparation and filing of perm applications (step 1 of the green card/permanent residency sponsorship process)
• Preparation and filling of i-140 immigration petitions (step 2 of the green card/permanent residency sponsorship process)
• Preparation and filing of i-485 application for adjustment of status application and corresponding benefit applications
• Preparation and filing of independent travel and work authorization documents for city employees, as needed.
• Preparation of, and advice related to, visa applications at us consulates and embassies abroad
• Advice and counsel on i-9 and e-verify compliance
• Provide immigration training to HR managers and representatives to assist with recruitment, retention, and promotion planning for foreign national employees within each department
• Preparation and filing of dependent applications for family members (note: employees cover these costs, but we provide these services).
