The vendor is required to provide domestic violence legal and advocacy services for include:
- Legal services
• Family law issues, including but not limited to divorce, child custody, establishment of paternity, temporary restraining orders and other orders for protection, and filing for child support;
• Housing issues, including but not limited to landlord tenant disputes, eviction defense, and preserving housing subsidies;
• Establishment of powers of attorney, and other custody arrangements to ensure that there is a person with the legal right to make decisions regarding the child’s care;
• Filing crime victim compensation applications and other victim-witness assistance.
- Advocacy services
• Obtaining and maintaining public assistance, including but not limited to snap, TANF, and social security benefits;
• Housing issues, including but not limited to finding placement in domestic violence shelters; getting information and education on housing programs; applying for housing programs such as section 8 housing and housing choice voucher programs;
• Acquiring important documents, including but not limited to social security cards, birth certificates, permanent resident cards, passports, work visas (temporary or permanent), lawful travel documents; and
• Services to persons pursuant to 45 cfr §1626.4, aliens eligible for assistance under anti-abuse laws, including but not limited to securing legal status to protect domestic violence survivors from deportation, and providing support to acquire work permits.
