The vendor required to provide board attorney legal services from certified, competent and fully capable law firms with substantiated successful experience in various disciplines, as described herein with large scale educational institutions and organizations.
- Provide advice to the superintendent and the board during non-business hours including the attendance at “scheduled” and “called” meetings when requested.
- Professional legal services to the district on an as needed basis.
- Various issues arise during the normal course of business involving matters that will require guidance and advice from legal counsel.
- Services, at times, represent emergency situations, legal counsel will be expected to return a telephone call, or email, to the board and the district without undue delay.
- Finance:
• Tax allocation districts
• Intergovernmental contracts and relations
• Non-profit organization (510 c)
• Government bonds
• 403(b) and 457 (b) plans
• Tax anticipation notes (“tans”)
• Competitive bidding process, including protests
• Investment of public funds
- Litigation:
• Litigation for all areas listed above, and at all levels of state and federal courts and administrative proceedings.
• This includes alternative forms of dispute resolution including but not limited to mediation, arbitration, and negotiation.
- Other:
• Other legal services as requested by the district in the area of board attorney.
- Contract Period/Term: 1 year
