- Public sector employment relations, including the full spectrum of applicable state and federal laws, and
- Public sector labor relations including contract administration and negotiations, mediation and interest arbitration, and related issues before public employment relations commission (PERC), as well as federal contract compliance for public transits.
- Tasks
1. As-needed legal advice regarding adverse employment actions
• Review fact finding, notes, other relevant documentation, identify strengths and weaknesses.
• Responses within one business day, unless arranged otherwise.
2. Review arbitrability of disputes prior to grievance arbitration.
• Identify case strengths and weaknesses,
• Present and advice regarding settlement options, and draft or review settlement documents.
3. Appear on behalf of community transit before regulatory agencies.
• Direct internal inquiries, review draft documentation.
• Produce position papers.
• Represent agency in mediation, fact-finding or hearings.
4. Represent community transit before neutral arbitrators in grievance arbitration and interest arbitration hearings:
• Guide agency in preparation for hearings,
• Prepare witnesses,
• Exhibits
• Post-hearing briefs
• Interpret arbitrators’ awards, case manage award implementation.
