The vendor required to provide general counsel services for include:
• Provide legal opinions and advice to the office regarding federal and state litigation, employment and civil service laws, transparency and office laws, state and local legislative processes, home rule charter, municipal government and state law, law enforcement legal issues, and ethics law;
• Draft legal documents at the direction of the police monitor;
• Advise and represent the office on employment and civil service matters.
• Advise and represent the office on threatened, anticipated and pending litigation;
• Advise the office of major developments and of material legal issues that arise while providing legal services;
• Provide legal opinions and advice to the office regarding federal and state litigation, employment and civil service laws, transparency and sunshine laws, state and local legislative processes, home rule charter, municipal government and state law, law enforcement legal issues, and ethics law;
• Perform all other services and obligations as set forth by office.
• The office must be able to receive these accounts confidentially and securely in a timely manner – and there may be a demand for these services outside of traditional business hours.
• Police misconduct could occur at night or on the weekends, and it is vital the office is available to receive these accounts quickly in order to act on possible concerns regarding safety or retaliation.
