The Vendor is required to provide professional legal services directly to the Board on an as-needed basis.
- Services needed:
• Provide general legal advice in k-12 educational matters with relation to applicable civil, state, and federal laws; to include special education and 504 disability rights.
• Litigate controversies related to the autonomy of the agency board and governance matters pursuant to state education law and any other applicable laws and rules.
• Provide legal advice of purchasing contracts and procurement law upon request.
• Provide legal advice on real estate matters involving land development, and the buying/selling/trading of real estate. Advise the board on applicable property law including eminent domain and community development agreements.
• Attend board study sessions and business meetings; and meet with staff when requested.
• Represent the board in litigation regarding employment law specific to the state public education human resource management act for district personnel and administration; including litigation for personal injury and workers’ compensation claims.
• Manage, conduct, and oversee litigation in all courts (state, federal, trial or appellate, general or special) and administrative agencies.
• Provide legal services on all other matters typically associated with school district operations and other services as may be directed by the board.
• Provide legal advice on open and closed meeting laws.
