The Vendor is required to provide legal services to the district and its employees in matters involving but not limited to: personnel, education, pupil personnel, real estate, environmental, contracts, construction law, employee benefits, deferred compensation programs, school board association law, procurement act, torts, and interpretation of local, state and federal regulations, ordinances and statutes.
- Requirement:
• Providing special education legal services may be requested to attend school board meetings on an as-need basis.
• Provide legal advice, both written and verbal, in a timely manner as requested.
• Research and develop legal opinions as requested.
• Assist in developing and completing legal documents as required.
• Firm will be accessible by telephone and responsive to call backs
• Act as a liaison between the office and the district as requested.
• Defend the district and its employees, when requested, against actions and suits.
• Represent the district, when requested, to initiate actions and suits.
• Appear in court, when necessary, on behalf of the district and its employees
• Keep abreast of proposed and codified legislative actions on a local, state, and federal level which have a potential bearing on the operation of the district.
• Provide professional development training for the district’s special education department, as requested.
• Provide other services, as requested, by the district.
