The Vendor is required to provide for related professional legal services, for a variety of projects, in order to create, by award of the commission, a pool of such professionals to be called upon for such services, on an as-needed basis.
- Services include:
• Furnish legal advice and representation to the commission and its staff regarding matters primarily related to employment law.
• Work in conjunction with the counsel, commission general counsel, and other special labor counsels, as needed to assure proper management of legal matters, and proper coordination and transition of legal matters from attorneys who are currently representing the commission.
• Assist the commission and its staff to maintain awareness of ethical standards and appearance of fairness standards and to avoid potential conflicts of interest, prohibited transactions and the appearance of prohibited transactions.
• Assist officials and employees to understand the legal roles and duties of their respective offices and inter relationships with others, as well as to conduct staff training programs regarding employment law.
• Prepare legal opinions at the request of the commission.
• Provide the commission and its staff a legal perspective and advice and representation on various governmental and employment law issues.
• Perform other legal services and tasks, as assigned by the commission.
• Upon request, be required to attend commission meetings.
• The attorney may also be requested to attend committee and staff meetings. Attendance is generally requested if there are matters of concern scheduled which could benefit the commission by the attorney’s attendance.
• Timeliness of response and accessibility is an important aspect of the service. Attorney(s) must be available by phone, cell phone, fax and e-mail. Accessibility includes the ability to be generally available to attend meetings in person on short notice and the ability to be reached promptly by telephone.
