The Vendor is required to provide to engage assistant counsel to state.
- The Institutions face a range of immigration issues on a daily basis, many of which can be handled in-house at each Institution, but some of which require the assistance of outside counsel with special knowledge of such issues.
- Provide advice from time to time on matters of immigration law, including the implementation of or revision to any Institution policy (ies) affected by immigration law, and may be requested to draft, review and monitor visa applications, immigration petitions, waiver requests and related correspondence in conjunction with HED and the Institutions.
- Advising or representing the Institutions in the recruitment and retention of foreign staff and faculty, including the employment of foreign physicians.
- Assisting the Institutions with the administration of the International Exchange Visitor Program and any programs supporting foreign, including undocumented, students attending the Institutions.
- Advising the Institutions concerning the processing and submission of applications of postdoctoral candidates, exempt staff, and faculty for permanent residency.
- Representing foreign staff and faculty with respect to international travel and visa and permanent residency matters directly related to their employment by an Institution.
- Assisting in the establishment or audit of immigration policies and procedures at each Institution.
- Preparing and presenting training and orientation sessions to Institution staff on specific topics of immigration procedures and laws.
