The Vendor is required to provide for the management and operation of the university shop bookstore retail location and related services.
- Operation will include but will not be limited to procurement and sale of new textbooks, used textbooks, textbook rentals, electronic/digital books, reference and trade books, stationery, student supplies, clothing, spirit items, fraternity and sorority items, and other merchandise items now sold in the Shop and at retail locations and additional non-consumable items that are normally sold in a college bookstore or retail operation.
- Services shall include but not be limited to providing special book orders and distance learning course materials; used textbook purchase (buyback); copyright clearance and course packs; as well as providing other services ordinarily made available in college bookstores.
- The bookstore and retail locations operations may include the limited sale of drinks, snacks, candy bars, and other items for consumption, provided that this does not conflict with other contractual obligations of the university.
- Required services include timely sourcing and sale of required/recommended course materials (with an emphasis on affordability and first-day access for students); textbook buyback programs; special orders; support for distance learning and online ordering; copyright clearance and production of course packs; and other customary services expected of a full-service campus bookstore.
- Campus: The main campus spans ~123 acres with a mix of historic and modern facilities. Ten (10) residence halls house about 1,800 students. Recent campus growth includes new academic buildings and improvements to student amenities.
- While the campus plans to initiate an Inclusive Access fee for the first time once this contract is secured, the assumed estimated Inclusive Access fee is in the range of $25 per credit hour (final amount to be determined through consultation during contract negotiations).
- Expected to implement programs that yield significant student cost savings, such as aggressive used textbook sourcing, rental pricing not exceeding ~50% of new book price, buyback incentives, and price-matching guarantees for textbooks (the University encourages the Contractor to price-match major online retailers for the exact textbook, to reassure students of competitive pricing).
- Comprehensive Merchandise Selection: Provide a broad selection of merchandise typical of a full-service university bookstore. This includes a wide array of Lander University branded apparel (covering athletics, alumni, general spirit wear, etc.), gift items and collectibles, school/office supplies (including art and lab supplies required for classes), computer and tech accessories, residence hall living essentials, and convenience items. All merchandise carrying Lander trademarks must be sourced from officially licensed vendors and comply with Lander’s branding guidelines (see Collegiate Licensing Partnership).
