The Vendor is required to provide indigenous artists, designers, or cultural professionals for a contractual position to support the development, installation, and promotion of future museum exhibitions.
- This role is rooted in the responsibility of honoring and sharing anishinaabe culture through respectful exhibition design, careful reproduction of cultural items, and culturally grounded visual storytelling.
- The ideal candidate will bring a multidisciplinary approach to hands-on exhibit development, artifact reproduction, and graphic design for both internal and public-facing materials.
- Services include:
1. Exhibition development
• Plan, design, and implement exhibits that reflect anishinaabe history, identity, and lifeways.
• Assist in procurement of culturally appropriate materials and exhibition components.
• Support the physical installation and deinstallation of displays with sensitivity to community values and museum standards.
2. Cultural reproduction of fragile items
• Reproduce select cultural materials (such as beadwork, leatherwork, or regalia) that are too fragile for public display.
• Use traditional anishinaabe techniques and culturally appropriate materials.
3. Graphic design and cultural branding
• Develop a visual identity for current and upcoming exhibitions, reflecting anishinaabe design principles and museum values.
• Produce promotional and interpretive materials (posters, brochures, digital graphics, and signage).
• Assist with internal and external branding, including materials for educational programming and outreach.
