The Vendor is required to provide for strategic media relations services.
- The media relations consultant team will have a proven record of leading strategic media work, including crafting pitches and obtaining media coverage for public sector clients in agency online, broadcast and print media outlets.
- In addition, the media relations consultant team must have strong working knowledge and demonstrated experience in public sector projects in agency purview of transportation, housing, environment and sustainability, and economic development.
- The media relations consultant team will also be capable of generating coverage in all six counties of the agency region.
- The team will have established relationships with media contacts in the region, as well as the ability to build new relationships.
- The media relations consultant team will also have a track record of engaging with local multicultural and non-English language media in agency media markets, specifically communities with the largest in-language populations: Hispanic/Latino (Spanish), Chinese (mandarin), Korean and Vietnamese.
- In addition, this media relations consultant team will have experience arranging meetings with editorial boards or journalists from regional/local outlets, focusing on agency primary legislative and programmatic priorities.
- When long-lead pitch concepts are approved, consultant team will lead in drafting pitch messages, researching media targets and preparing any supporting background materials as needed.
- Upon approval, the consultant will pitch media, coordinating with agency to obtain additional information, schedule interviews or service other assets, as needed.
- The media relations consultant team shall engage media outlets serving multi-cultural populations to facilitate interest and awareness of regional planning issues and processes to better include these groups in public decision-making.
- The media relations consultant team will arrange meetings with journalists and/or editorial boards from regional/local outlets focusing on agency primary legislative and programmatic priorities.
- These meetings can provide background and context on priorities, as well as build understanding and relationships.
- The media relations consultant team will assist agency in leveraging current events to further the agency’s narratives and positioning as an expert, such as preparing statements to proactively distribute in response to current events and offering subject matter experts as sources for general issue stories.
- The media relations consultant team will provide services to help agency monitor and evaluate media coverage.
- This task includes providing insight on current media mentions and coverage of agency and related topics to assess the effectiveness of ongoing media relations efforts, as well as enhance strategies of future media relations work.
- Further, the media relations consultant team will assist in preparing reports and documenting media relations activity to support agency required year-end reporting.
