RFP Description

The vendor is required to provide feasibility study for a district energy system at its abbots ford campus.
- Services includes:
• Based on the energy and climate resiliency study, develop a business-as-usual case for the university’s heating and cooling infrastructure, including a 25-year forecast for energy consumption, operational and maintenance costs, capital replacement costs, energy costs, cost of carbon offsets and carbon emissions);
• In collaboration with the university, select three energy pathways to analyze to help the campus meet its energy and carbon goals; one of these pathways must be the pathway for decarbonizing individual buildings without a district energy system, which will be the output of the energy and climate resiliency study;
• Develop conceptual designs, space estimates for plants, distribution pipe routings and class d capital cost estimates for each of the three alternatives.
• The capital cost estimates, in addition to the costs of generation and distribution infrastructure, must include all modifications to the buildings to facilitate the implementation of the district energy system or building-scale heating and cooling solutions; if modifications to the buildings are found to be excessive and would require detailed drawings, written scopes of work and high-level drawings may be
• Develop an implementation plan for the project, including a high-level construction schedule; comment on any practical challenges and major risks associated with the construction of the project that may affect the project’s success; outline key interfaces with the existing system and operational considerations during construction (such as major shutdowns required to implement the project);
• Comment on potential ownership or operational models for the project;
• Identify potential funding pathways that the project could leverage to construct and operate the system.
