RFP Description

The vendor is required to provide from executive search consultants, preferably those with experience at a national level in conducting searches for cabinet and executive-level positions at higher education institutions.
- Major responsibilities:
• The firm awarded a contract as a result will immediately be engaged to provide services to support the college in its search for two (2) critical, cabinet/executive-level positions:
a. Chief financial officer and vice president, administrative services (priority)
b. Chief information officer and associate vice president, technology services
• The selected firm will assist the mcc president and the two (2) search committees in the selection of the above positions.
• The successful firm is expected to guide and counsel the mcc president and the search committees by providing specific work products that facilitate the search process.
• The major components of each search include, but are not limited to, the following:
1.  Development of the search process and timelines
2. Applicant solicitation
- This includes:
• Develop and propose search timelines to mcc president and human resources that meet the college’s expectation to appoint additional hiring, including the position of chief information officer and associate vice president, technology services based on an agreed upon appointment and start date.
• Develop and create marketing materials, including the institutional profile, search prospectus, and position description, to recruit a robust pool of diverse candidates
• Actively solicit and recruit applications from diverse individuals who meet the identified search criteria from the firm’s proprietary file, nationwide consultant networks, and other such resources
• Identify advertising opportunities and make recommendations to mcc human resources; the cost of which shall be the responsibility of mcc
• Identify potential sources for targeted advertising and recruitment of diverse candidates
• Receive all candidate application materials and provide in a document bundle to mcc HR office to upload into applicant tracking system, horizon and interview exchange
• Provide an appropriate level of supplemental support, which includes the option for the college to request the following technical support from the selected search firm: observe the interview (in the room, non-voting); and, work with the search committee to manage a confidential scoring procedure.
3. Candidate evaluations
• Including candidate recordings and documents shall be created for all candidates including their portfolios for the search committees to review
• Education credentials, facts, figures and performance data provided by qualified candidates shall be verified; and three or more initial professional references shall be obtained from each candidate
• It is anticipated that 1st interviews with the search committee will be conducted remotely via zoom and finalist and open forum interviews will be conducted in-person.
4. Recommendations and selection of finalists
• Three (3) reference checks shall be performed for all recommended finalists by the selected firm.
• The candidate’s reference check, in-depth interviews shall be conducted with principal parties to clarify the circumstances disclosed and a synopsis of the circumstances shall be clearly presented in written summary format to mcc human resources
5. Records
• Complete records of search activities shall be maintained and shall be the property of the college.
all information pertaining to the candidates will become the property of mcc.
- Role of the search consultant
• The college, in engaging a search consultant to assist in its chief financial officer and vice president, administrative services search and in its chief information officer and associate vice president, technologies services search and is seeking proposals that provide flexibility to the college regarding the various aspects of each search.
• Serve as a consultant to the mcc president and search committee co-chairs for both positions to develop and facilitate the search process, including establishing and recommending a timeline and milestone dates, adjusting as appropriate in consultation with the mcc president and respective search committee co-chairs.
• Assist with scheduling virtual 1st interviews with search committee, along with 2nd in-person interviews and open forum sessions in-person for finalists to gather input from the college community to inform the institutional profile, search prospectus, position description, and ideal candidates.
• Develop and create an institutional profile, search prospectus, and position announcement for use in national, regional and local digital and/or print publications and for appropriate websites, in consultation with mcc community relations staff members
• Provide a listing of materials to be included in the applicant packets.
• Provide an information session via zoom for the mcc president and/or the respective search committee co-chairs and potentially the search committees.
• Recruit and identify qualified applicants and actively recruit candidates from diverse and underrepresented groups.
• A bundle of applicant materials should be sent to the human resources office for uploading into college applicant tracking system, horizon and interview exchange.
• Provide an appropriate level of supplemental support, which includes the option for the college to request that they observe the interview (in the room, non-voting).
• Work with the search committee to manage a confidential scoring procedure as well as assist committees in the search committees in developing criteria for scoring materials submitted by the candidates.
• Work with the search co-chairs and committee members to develop interview questions and orient the search committees to the screening and interviewing processes.
• Establish an interview schedule in cooperation with the search co-chairs, search committee, and mcc human resources.
• Provide instruction and guidelines to mcc human resources on logistics required for interviews with stakeholder groups, campus open forums, and mcc president, if requested.
• Provide and submit email updates to the mcc president, mcc human resources, and respective search committee co-chairs at completion of major milestones or upon request
• Coordinate and communicate regularly with the search committee co-chairs about timelines, information, and search progress.
