The Vendor is required to provide towing, storage and disposal of inoperative, disabled or abandoned trailers, motorhomes, recreational vehicles, vessels, watercraft and other such dilapidated, odd or unusual vehicles considered unsafe or a nuisance - removing them from public and private property within county.
- Towing
• Must be qualified and equipped to safely remove abandoned vehicles from all types of properties and roadways, both improved and unimproved, and public or private.
• Property access and roadway widths vary, and towing equipment and vehicles are expected to be able to navigate all types of properties and roadways regardless of improvements.
• Locations may include environmentally sensitive areas and removal of vehicles must be conducted in a manner minimizing environmental damage.
• Provide a properly equipped tow truck of the class required to tow the vehicle, perform vehicle recovery and be in possession of the appropriate class of driver license, applicable endorsements and permits.
• "Light duty" tows include vehicles up to 16,000 pounds (gross vehicle weight - GVW) and represents the expected majority of requested services.
• At the county’s discretion, “extraordinary” tows may be identified due to difficulties encountered such as the location of a vehicle making access extremely challenging or containing excessive amounts of trash.
- Storage
• Must have capacity to provide safe and secure storage for up to ten vehicles for a specified timeframe when determined necessary by county prior to disposal of the vehicle.
• Storage area must have adequate lighting and alarm system.
• This storage area must be in compliance with zoning regulations and is subject to on-site inspection by the county.
- Disposal/Demolition
• Conclusion of any storage period, if applicable, vehicles shall be removed of all trash, and waste materials, both hazardous and non- hazardous and disposed of in a legal manner by Responder.
• Vehicles shall then be disposed of by either: legal sale, removal to a dismantler, or processed as scrap.
• Capable of performing on-site demolition, and receives prior written authorization from the county, this service may be appropriate on rare occasions where a vehicle is unsafe to tow.
• In such instances, materials resulting from demolition must be properly transported for disposal.
• Hazardous materials include but are not limited to, grey water, propane, refrigerants, appliances, etc.
