The Vendor is required to provide need of temporary labor services, clerical, laborer/trades and professional, for use by various City Departments.
- These positions include workers whose responsibilities may be primarily based on the performance of a single clerical duty such as typist, stenographer, data entry operator, office machine operator, or file clerk; and/or other workers such as lower level administrative assistants, general office clerks, receptionists, or public information clerks, where the above duties may vary in volume and complexity.
- The organizational assignment, the specific level and scope of duties, responsibilities and overall difficulty of work to be performed should be considered in designation of the appropriate level.
- At all levels, due to the temporary nature of the work performed, the work is controlled (e.g. through spot checks, complete review, or subsequent processing) for both quantity and quality. Supervisors or full-time employees proficient in performing the assigned work are usually available to assist and advise position subordinates on difficult problems and to approve or review any suggestions which significantly deviate from existing instructions or procedures.
- The worker selects the appropriate method to perform assigned duties from a wide variety of procedures or makes simple adaptations and interpretations of a limited number of substantive guides and manuals.
- Typical duties may include a combination of the following: maintaining time and material records, taking inventory of equipment and/or supplies, answering questions on departmental services and functions, operating a variety of office machines, posting to various books and tables, balancing a restricted group of accounts to controlling account data, and assisting in preparation of standard administrative document, reports, etc.
- Performs simple maintenance or repair tasks requiring limited training, practical skill and knowledge of the assigned work unit. Follows few but clearly defined instructions for performing routine repetitive tasks in the same sequence.
- The worker is closely supervised and typically works as a member of a crew. Job duties may include: general facility and equipment maintenance; basic facility and equipment repair; and/or routine field maintenance and construction tasks, custodial task, set-up and take-down for various events, cleaning of event areas, litter pick-up in parks, running weed-eaters, push mowers, raking, weeding, simple painting, etc.
- A supervisor or lead worker is available to answer questions regarding the assigned duties and the work performed.
- This is a skilled trades/journey level position. Workers must be proficient in one or more skilled trades, possess prior line operations experience, and possess a functional knowledge of departmental policies and procedures and/or City code and regulations pertinent to the assigned departmental work unit.
- Daily assignments are received verbally and in writing from a supervisor and are performed in accordance with the worker’s own knowledge of applicable policies and procedures. The necessary skills, knowledge, and ability and/or licenses and certifications to perform departmental specific tasks must be acquired prior to assuming the duties of the position.
