The vendor is required to provide on an as-needed basis as part of a one-year pilot project to strengthen language services and support community engagement efforts in communities with people with limited english proficiency.
- Services and programs include social services, public and behavioral health, public safety, sustainability, parks and libraries, affordable housing, and homelessness issues.
- Community engagement:
• The county’s community engagement initiatives by engaging Filipino-speaking residents to participate in various activities to gather input and feedback such as surveys, focus groups, and community meetings.
• The contractor shall work with the county team to develop, promote and implement inclusive and accessible opportunities that encourage Filipino-speaking residents to participate in activities such as those listed to contribute to the decision-making processes.
• Contractor shall help plan, organize, and coordinate events such as public meetings, workshops, or focus groups within the Filipino-speaking community they serve to gather input and feedback.
• Contractor shall develop an event plan detailing the designated roles, responsibilities, and tasks.
• This plan should cover all logistics, such as securing Ada-compliant venues, selecting dates and times, coordinating set up, staffing, and overseeing tear down.
• Contractor shall compile all input and feedback from the Filipino-speaking community they serve and submit it to the county in a report.
• All information gathered in Filipino shall be translated to english before submittal to the county; analysis of input is not required.
• Contractor’s engagement efforts shall uphold high ethical standards and follow the core values set forth by the international association for public participation.
- Language services:
• Contractor shall conduct translations and translation reviews on a variety of topics.
• Items for translation may include and are not limited to, invitations to community engagement activities such as flyers, emails, and other announcements, power-point presentations, surveys, information sheets, community input and feedback, etc.
• Contractor shall review and revise Filipino translations completed by others to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Contractor shall also provide consecutive interpretation services during community meetings or events, facilitating effective communication between participants by accurately conveying spoken language in real-time while being mindful of cultural considerations.
• Contractor’s translations and consecutive interpretations shall use plain language and be culturally responsive and completed accurately.
• Contractor shall uphold the standards of the american translators’ association in both the translation and interpretation processes, including maintaining confidentiality and neutrality when interpreting sensitive or private information.
