The Vendor is required to provide in-person American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services on an “as needed” basis.
- Service hours
• Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. To 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PT), holidays excluded unless otherwise stated in the sign language interpreter service request.
- Types of services
• In-person ASL interpreter at office up to five days per week for 8 hours per day as scheduled by the district.
• In-person ASL interpreter at the office for at least three non-consecutive days per week for 8 hours per day as scheduled by the district.
• One or more sign language interpreter(s) to interpret for the department employees attending a variety of community events, conferences, meetings and trainings.
- Requirements and proof of certification of interpreters
• Registry of interpreters for the deaf (rid) with a level no less than comprehensive skills certificate (CSC), national interpreting certification (NIC), and certificate of interpretation (ci), certificate of translation (CT) both are required.
• Sign language interpreter(s) must be proficient in interpreting the spoken English language to American Sign Language and American Sign Language to the spoken English language.
• Sign language interpreter(s) must present proof of current certification to the department representative at the location of the assignment.
