The vendor is required to providing qualified sign language interpreters (SLIs) or other appropriate auxiliary aids and services when necessary to afford individuals with hearing disabilities.
- provide a total of two hundred and sixteen (216) hours of sign language interpreting services over the course of twelve (12) days, eighteen (18) hours of interpreting each day between the hours of 10:00 am - 7:00 pm of the State Fair, July 23 - August 3, 2025. Respondent may identify the number of shifts and interpreters required to satisfy this requirement.
• OOD shall provide a detailed schedule of events at the State Fair that will require sign language interpreting as soon as available, but not prior to July 7, 2025. Respondent shall make arrangements for coverage that can be flexible and finalized once the schedule is provided.
• Respondent must have the ability to provide replacement interpreters should the original interpreter become unavailable to provide services at the State Fair.
• OOD shall provide written details about the various events during the State Fair, including keywords and a description of the physical spaces, prior to the start of the State Fair.
- provide sign language interpreting services accurately and consistently, in a manner understood by the majority of users, and reflective of the diversity of the Deaf community.
- Interpreter(s) shall accurately reflect the voice, tone, emotion, and non-spoken message of the communication.
- Interpreter(s) shall not allow their own opinions, emotions, or experiences to change the message being communicated.
- The State Fair and most events at the State Fair will continue, regardless of the weather.
- Interpreter(s) assigned by Respondent understand that they will be expected to carry out their duties regardless of the weather. Interpreter(s) shall be prepared for the weather (e.g., providing their own hydration, sun block, rain protection, any other cooling or protection, etc.)
- Interpreter(s) may wear clothing that keeps them cool and comfortable, however tank tops are not permitted.
- Branded clothing representing the Respondent is permitted, as long as the branding does not distract from interpreting.
- Contract Period/Term: 5 years
