The Vendor is required to provide foreign language interpreters and translators, who are able to interpret on site during court proceedings in various county.
- In addition, there may be limited instances where an interpreter will be required off-site, such as at healthcare, to provide services for forensic psychological evaluations.
- The Court requires the contractor to be able to provide foreign language interpreters and translators of various languages with scheduling flexibility.
- Provide certified or registered foreign language interpreters who can interpret in various languages in a legal environment on an as-needed basis.
- Interpreters must be able to perform simultaneous and consecutive interpreting and sight translation as required by the Court.
- Interpreters must be familiar with legal terminology in a court setting.
- Interpreters must be available for emergency, immediate, routine, and long-term services.
- Interpreters may also be required to translate from English to another language or from another language into English.
- Provide prompt, efficient, and timely service to the Court, the contractor should have a local office that is staffed at all times during regular business hours.
- Billable contractor hours are to be calculated by actual time worked and not per case. For example, if an interpreter covers two cases, one from 8:00 am to 8:30 am and a second from 9:00 am to 9:30 am, then the billable time is one and one-half hours.
- There will be times when services may be required within 24 hours of the request (immediate service), times when an interpreter is required within 4 hours of a request (Emergency service), and times when an interpreter may be required for one assignment on at least three consecutive days (long-term assignment).
