The Vendor is required to provide of sign language interpreter services for the deaf, deaf-blind, and hard-of-hearing.
- The interpreters will provide services in court proceedings and other court functions in various county.
- In addition, there may be limited instances where an interpreter will be required off-site, such as at healthcare or behavioral science specialists to provide services for forensic psychological evaluations.
- Provide qualified sign language, certified deaf interpreters, as well as haptics, pro-tactile sign language interpreters and CART - Communication Access Real-time Translation who have the credentials to interpret in a legal environment on an as-needed basis. Interpreters must be familiar with legal terminology in a court setting.
- Billable contractor hours are to be calculated by actual time worked and not per case. For example, if an interpreter covers two cases, one from 8:00 am to 8:30 am and a second from 9:00 am to 9:30 am, then the billable time is one and one-half hours.
- Established a one hour minimum, as used in this example, the contractor would bill the Court for an hour and half.
- Established a two-hour minimum, then the contractor would bill for two hours.
- Provide qualified interpreters on routine and short notice. In most cases, the Court will schedule for the required services at least 24 hours in advance of the service date (i.e. routine service).
- There will be times when services may be required within 24 hours of the request (immediate service), times when an interpreter is required within 4 hours of a request (Emergency service), and times when an interpreter may be required for one assignment on at least three consecutive days (long term assignment).
