RFP Description

The vendor required to provide written translation and comparative editing services to reduce costs, provide one-stop shopping with standardized quality written translation and comparative editing services delivered on a timely basis, streamline internal business processes and improve overall process efficiencies at agency.
- Written translation services:
•    The service involves translating content—such as text, presentations, spreadsheets, or other formats—from French to english, english to French, or to indigenous and other foreign languages, while maintaining the original tone, style, terminology and message. 
•    The translations must be completed exclusively by qualified translators and must demonstrate professional linguistic judgment, cultural and contextual accuracy, and subject-matter expertise. 
•    The translated content must meet the quality standards required for official use by agency 
•    The standing offer holder must apply the appropriate style and language level suited to the target audience, as identified by the project authority, and accurately convey the meaning of the source text. 
•    Provide reference materials to support consistency and accuracy. 
•    The standing offer holder will accept pre-translated text included in the document to be translated, and charge only for the portion of work which requires translation.
- Comparative editing services:
•    To compare the source text with the target text and suggest changes to the target text where necessary to make it sound more idiomatic. 
•    Thus, the text will feel "natural" to the reader, as if it were originally written in the target language.
- Languages:
•    English to French;
•    French to english;
•    To indigenous (stream 3 only);
•    To other foreign languages.
- Schedule for written translation
•    Some written translation services may require a team of resources working evenings or weekends. 
•    Some examples of services required on an urgent basis include external communications products dealing with natural resources (press releases, speeches, brochures, manuals, forms, publicity, etc.).
1. Word count:
•    A word is defined as a contiguous series of letters.
•    Numbers that appear in the text are considered words and must also be translated and edited or reviewed. 
•    Words containing apostrophes or hyphens are counted as one word. 
•    This includes contractions and possessive forms
•    Word count includes text, tables, call-out boxes, graphics, footnotes, headers and footers.
