RFP Description

The vendor required to provide on-site sign language interpretation services for on an as-needed or ongoing basis.
- Interpreters are capable of interpreting spoken english into american sign language (asl) and asl into spoken english, delivering immediate and convenient simultaneous and consecutive interpretation services between deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and hearing individuals.
- interpretation services are needed for various scheduled and unscheduled events.
- Provide support services to agency by providing oral multilingual interpretation services for intakes, interviews, meetings, conferences, seminars, litigation proceedings, briefings, trainings, hearings, and other forms of voice communication requirements from a source language into the target language asl is included.
- All services are performed by qualified, professional interpreters with demonstrated experience and advanced proficiency in both english and the applicable non-English language, accurately conveying the speaker’s intended meaning.
- Interpreters employed by the contractor must meet the following requirements:
•    Knowledgeable of specialized vocabulary (terminology) in both english and the foreign language typically used in systems including but not limited to, health systems, social service systems, legal systems and school systems;
•    Knowledgeable of the code of professional responsibility for interpreters and protocol of court interpreting, to be indicated by having each interpreter sign a copy of the code of professional responsibility;
•    Able to speak english and the foreign language fluently, include high to low levels of language register, regional colloquialisms and slang expressions and to do so with clear and intelligible pronunciation;
•    Able to interpret in a manger that is factually and conceptually accurate, without changes, omissions or additions;
•    Able to preserve the tone and emotional level of the speaker, as well as manage the delivery, speed and length of the statement (projection, pace and pausing) of the speaker;
•    Able to maintain appropriate speed and projection while rendering interpretation and request and incorporate clarification of the speaker’s statements only when justified.
- Interpretation services are needed on an hourly, ad-hoc basis, as required by the agency.
