The Vendor is required to provide sign language interpreting services for deaf or hard of hearing students in health-related fields who require interpreting services for effective communication access in both classroom instruction and clinical training environments.
- Service requirements:
1. Modalities of interpretation
• On-site: in-person interpretation at designated university or clinical locations.
• Video remote interpreting (VRI): remote services via approved platforms (e.g., zoom, Microsoft teams).
• The contractor must ensure high-speed, secure connections and high-definition video/audio.
2. Operational requirements
A. Team interpreting provide team interpreting services for assignments of extended duration (typically exceeding 60 minutes) or high cognitive demand.
• A minimum of two (2) interpreters shall be staffed for such assignments.
• Ensure seamless transitions and coordination between team members to maintain linguistic accuracy and service quality.
B. Scheduling and capacity
• Flexibility: the contractor must accommodate activities occurring outside standard business hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Request types: support for both recurring (semester-long) and ad hoc (emergency or one-time) service requests.
• Staffing levels: the contractor shall maintain sufficient staffing capacity to meet demand across multiple concurrent assignments.
C. Contingency planning
• Maintain robust contingency plans for interpreter absences, cancellations, or emergencies.
• Replacement interpreters shall be provided in a timely manner to avoid disruption to the student’s educational or clinical progress.
• Notify the university immediately of any anticipated service gaps.
