The Vendor is required to provide foreign language services on an as needed basis.
- Language interpretation and translation services could include, but are not limited to, the following: in person verbal interpretation, over the telephone interpretation, video conferencing interpretation, and written translation of records, forms, and other various documents.
- Requirement:
• All interpretation and translation services shall be performed by qualified personnel who are proficient in the applicable source and target languages and who adhere to professional standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
• Verifiable by standards acceptable within the professional field of interpretation services, which may include, but are not limited to, professional certifications, relevant education, and documented, verifiable experience.
• Language interpreter services are delivered through one or more of the following service models:
o Interpretation services provided directly by board employees
o Interpretation services provided by successful bidder via over the telephone or video conferencing platforms
o Interpretation services provided face-to-face interpretation (in person) by successful bidder.
• The type of interpretation or translations service and delivery method to be used shall be at the discretion of board.
• While providing interpretations services, interpreters shall silence or turn off all personal electronic devices, including cell phones, to minimize disruptions and ensure clear, uninterrupted communication.
- Interpretation services:
• Provide professional verbal language interpretation services in multiple languages, including, but not limited to:
o Spanish
o Vietnamese
o Creole
o Other languages as requested by the district
• In person interpretation services shall be for meetings, conferences, interviews, hearings, educational settings, and other district related events.
• Services may be requested by various board departments and schools in support on non-English proficient students, parents, employees, and community members.
• All interpreters must possess excellent verbal proficiency in English and the target language, demonstrate professionalism, maintain confidentiality, and accurately convey meaning without omissions or additions.
• All telephone and video remote interpreters must demonstrate excellent verbal command of English and the target language(s) in which they interpret.
• Provide qualified telephone and video remote interpretation services for foreign language interpretation during the standard service hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm as well as after hours and weekends, as required by board.
• Provide verbal language interpretation via telephone by connecting all incoming calls with the requested interpreter within ten (10) minutes, regardless of the non-English language requested.
• Shall ensure that telephone and video remote interpretation services are technically accurate, culturally appropriate, professional, and free from bias, threats, or obscenity.
• All telephone interpretation services and interpreters must be physically located within the country.
- Translation services:
• Provide professional written translation services in multiple languages, including, but not limited to:
o Spanish
o Vietnamese
o Creole
o Other languages as requested by the district
• Provide professional written translation services for records, forms, letters, and other documents requested by board departments and schools.
