The Vendor is required to provide professional sign language interpretation services and related technical support in (American Sign Language (ASL) and langue for conferences, special events, and other activities on an as and when needed basis.
- Tasks
1. Minimum interpreter standards
• Hold certification from a recognized post-secondary training program in ASL and langue interpretation or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience providing simultaneous interpretation services at conferences or formal events.
2. Service delivery
• American Sign Language (ASL): using the audio feed from the English simultaneous interpretation provided by the school.
• Langue using the audio feed from the French simultaneous interpretation provided by the school.
3. Staffing and support
• Assign a single point of contact (SPOC) to manage all inquiries from school.
• The SPOC must be available during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday) and provide direct contact information (email, telephone, and cell phone if applicable).
• Provide technical support in the participant’s preferred language (ASL or langue) in the event of technical difficulties during an event.
• Provide sufficient qualified resources to accommodate events with concurrent sessions in English and French.
• Maintain sufficient qualified interpreter resources to ensure service availability for all scheduled events, including coverage for interpreter rotation, contingency requirements, and alignment with the mandatory technical criteria (e.g., minimum five years’ experience, proven event history).
• Ensure all assigned interpreters hold recognized post-secondary certification for ASL and langue interpretation.
• Ensure contractor personnel are equipped and available to deliver services both remotely and onsite while maintaining quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable accessibility standards.
• For events exceeding 60–90 minutes, interpreters must work in teams of two and rotate at regular intervals in accordance with industry standards to maintain accuracy and reduce fatigue.
• Must not replace proposed or assigned resources without prior written approval from the project authority.
• Any proposed replacement must possess qualifications and experience equal to or greater than those of the originally assigned resource.
