Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services

The Vendor is required to provide to provide comprehensive support services for deaf and hard of hearing students with 504 plans who are educated in schools located in the city.
- Services are to be provided on an as needed basis due to the disability that interferes with the student’s ability to learn or access school programs.
- To secure Technical Assistance to staff members utilizing the FM Systems for students as required by student 504 plans.
- Student Intervention Services
• Development of self-advocacy skills
• Monitoring of hearing aids, cochlear implants and classroom amplification systems
• Consultation with audiologists and cochlear center staff
- Consulting Services
• Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services
• In-service training to staff and students
• Monitoring of classroom acoustics to minimize interfering noise
• Consultation with SLP
• Testing and troubleshooting of audiological equipment
• Liaisons service between parents and educational staff
• Communication with audiologist and FM company
- Staff Development Workshops
• Education for students who are deaf/hard of hearing
• Fundamentals of educational audiology
• Effective use and maintenance of classroom amplification systems.
