The Vendor is required to provide American Sign Language (ASL)-related training, accessibility consultation, and video production services in support of destination discovery, the zoo’s new children and family experience.
- Requirement:
1. Onsite / in-person staff training:
• Key ASL greetings, phrases, and zoo-specific vocabulary
• ASL signs for animal names/species identified by the zoo
• Foundational awareness of deaf culture and best practices for respectful engagement with
• Deaf/deaf and hard of hearing guests
• Cultural competency and inclusive communication strategies for interacting with disabled and neuro-divergent youth
• Practical application, role-play, or interactive opportunities for staff practice
• The zoo will provide the final list of species, vocabulary, and operational touchpoints to be incorporated into training content.
2. Video creation for staff reinforcement and ongoing learning:
• Concise training reinforcement videos covering key phrases, greetings, species vocabulary, and communication practices introduced during the onsite sessions;
• Professionally edited digital files in a format suitable for internal hosting (e.g., mp4 or comparable file type);
• Content appropriate for use on an internal learning or file-sharing platform such as SharePoint.
3. ASL-accessible exhibit video content / picture-in-picture (pip):
• Picture-in-picture (PIP) ASL interpretation for existing or newly produced exhibit videos;
• ASL interpretation embedded into educational enrichment videos intended for public use within
• Editing and post-production to ensure visual clarity, readability, and accessibility for deaf/deaf and hard of hearing guests.
4. Species-specific ASL video content:

• Chilean flamingo
• Miniature sheep
