ASL Interpreting and CART Services 2026

The Vendor is required to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services, and for community access real-time translation (CART) services for students in both on-campus and remote classes.
- Interpreters shall not bill for services if: a student leaves the classroom due to the interpreter being 20 or more minutes late or the student/college cancels services with 24+ hours’ notice.
- Provide interpreter services at any of the college sites with a two-hour minimum.
- Special circumstances:
• For interpreting situations known to be over three (3) hours in length in credit bearing course work, the interpreter may request the services of two (2) certified interpreters.
• In the event that a student withdraws from or drops a course, the interpreter shall be paid only for actual services rendered up until the last day that the student attended class.
• Interpreters should wait an appropriate length of time for the student to arrive to class generally; the interpreter should wait at least 20 minutes.
• Interpreters shall notify accessibility services 24 hours prior to start of the assignment in the event that an interpreter will be absent, and no substitute can be found.
• Interpreters may bill for no call / no shows as long as the interpreter provides notification within one-hour of the class start time.
- Remote services:
• In the event services are to be provided remotely, accessibility services retains the right to determine the college-approved software to be used (zoom, teams, etc.).
• Interpreter shall provide all necessary equipment at no-cost to the college to provide the requisite services, shall ensure services are provided in compliance with FERPA and confidentiality laws, and are prohibited from recording or transcribing unless explicitly authorized by the college and student.
- CART services:
• Unless expressly authorized in writing, CART output is provided solely as a real time communication accommodation and is not an official transcript.
• Record the session or retain, distribute, or provide the real time text to any person after the assignment.
• If a transcript is specifically requested and authorized, pricing and delivery requirements must be approved separately in advance.
