The Vendor is required to provide to source short term disability (STD) case management and medical accommodation services.
- Services include:
• Define and regularly review the roles and responsibilities of the employee, people leader (supervisor), HR Strategic Business Advisor (SBA), service provider and department.
• Intake and review wellness referrals from employees to ensure the referral is appropriate for review by the service provider.
• Verify employment information for the service provider.
• Make initial contact with the employee to introduce the claims management process and service provider.
• Work with the service provider for case updates.
• Communicate with the employee on work and workplace related matters related to the short-term disability claim.
• Communicate with the people leader and HR SBA on work and workplace matters related to the short-term disability claim.
• Work with the service provider on medical accommodation, return-to-work and stay-at-work plans, ensuring plans align with the university’s approach to disability management.
• Coordinate and lead medical accommodation, return-to-work and stay-at-work meetings, working with the service provider to ensure relevant information is shared with appropriate parties.
• County with other university units as required, such as but not exclusive to employee and labor relations and safety resources.
• Develop and communicate resources for the service provider to share with employees on approved short-term disability leave.
• This may include but is not limited to information on health benefit plans (if applicable), employee and family assistance program and other university services.
• Provide timely case adjudication and support ongoing eligibility of claim based on objective medical assessment/prognosis and updated medical information.
• Provide services during agency core business hours of 8 am – 5pm CST.
• Provide dedicated account management services to agency.
• Seek out objective medical assessments, medical restrictions, and limitations and updated medical reports.
• To use and appoint qualified and experienced disability case managers.
• Perform services with demonstrated understanding of the relevant health care system.
• Access to the available health care network, both in and out of province; this includes having a general practitioner or practitioners available to review and provide independent assessments.
• Ensure compliance with the appropriate legislation regarding privacy and confidentiality of medical information.
• Work with the treating healthcare provider and the department, to identify medically supported and appropriate return-to-work opportunities.
• Provide medically supported restrictions and limitations to support a potential graduated return-to-work plan or workplace accommodation.
• Focus on the functional abilities of the employee and the job demands to accommodate early intervention initiatives in support of return-to-work or stay-at-work plans.
• To incorporate a cost/benefit approach to the assessment of alternate treatment approvals.
• To provide standard reporting and analysis to help identify disability trends and develop wellness strategies, as well as client experience scores and trends; on an established frequency, such as monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis.
