The Vendor is required to provide to identify vendors who can consistently and reliably assist with facilitating access to certified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters for various classes, campus meetings, and events.
- Ongoing classes should ideally have consistent providers who can build on their class knowledge to provide more detailed and vocabulary rich interpretation.
- Most assignments over 45 minutes will require two (2) interpreters.
- The number of assigned interpreters will depend on various factors including the duration of the event, the number of clients, topic, and format.
- Provide to secure and provide accommodation services for university students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty, staff and campus visitors who are eligible for the following communication access services:
• American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting - on-site
• American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting – remote
• Upon request, the contractor shall provide certified ASL interpreter(s).
• Interpreting settings include but are not limited to: classroom (in person and virtual), on campus and remote meetings, workshops, conferences, presentations, performances, campus events, internships (on and off campus) and other settings as needed.
• Onsite location of services provided will primarily be on the university main campus in College Park, county.
• less frequent locations include university shady grove in county extension offices, and other locations throughout the state as field trips or university sponsored events arise.
• Time of services provided will predominantly be Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am - 9:30pm, occasional weekends may be required as needed.
• Rate: an hourly wage, price breakdown for services is required for this bid package.
• Requested services will be made via email or by phone.
• The contractor shall acknowledge
• Receipt of the request within two (2) hours during 8am-5pm.
• Communication access services (CAS) will make every effort to submit requests with more than forty-eight (48) hours’ notice of the scheduled start time.
• However, the contractor shall make every reasonable effort to fulfill a request made less than forty-eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled start time.
• For remote assignments, contractor or their interpreter will use their own equipment including but not limited to a computer with a webcam and a professional neutral background.
• Interpreters with a bachelor’s degree and or higher education experience are preferred.
• Interpreters must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the interpreting field.
