The vendor is required to provide comprehensive support in executing media, public relations, and public information initiatives.
1. Strategic planning
• Collaborate with the director of communications to develop and implement a comprehensive media and public engagement strategy.
• Create an annual communications calendar to support the city’s goals and objectives.
2. Content creation
• Draft high-quality written materials including press releases, talking points, newsletters, website copy, and email communications.
• Develop messaging for both proactive and reactive communications needs.
3. Social-media and digital content creation
• Produce engaging social media content (graphics, infographics, short videos, etc.).
• Monitor, manage, and engage with audiences across official city social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, x/twitter).
• Grow the city’s digital footprint and optimize reach to targeted audiences.
4. Event planning & promotion
• Support the planning, promotion, and logistical execution of press conferences, community events, and stakeholder engagements.
• Perform event set-up, on-site support, and post-event breakdown, as needed.
5. Website content support
• Assist in ensuring website content is accurate, accessible, and up to date.
• Work with staff to update and maintain online information relevant to residents, stakeholders, and media.
6. Monitoring and reporting
• Track media coverage of city initiatives, policy announcements, and major events.
• Develop periodic reports assessing media and public engagement performance metrics.
7. Additional responsibilities
• Develop new and innovative strategies to increase public awareness of city programs and initiatives.
• Maintain a centralized, opt-in communications list for direct outreach to interested residents and stakeholders.
• Serve as support staff or liaison during public-facing communications efforts, including press availability, photo opportunities, and interviews.
• Ensure communications efforts are culturally competent and inclusive of all communities across the city.
