The Vendor is required to provide culturally appropriate and relevant programs to Asian older adults to improve their physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing.
- Activities / Programming
• The program must provide culturally relevant services that address disparities through targeted interventions and tailored support for the specific wants, needs, and desires of the target population.
• Services must be linguistically appropriate, trauma-responsive, and designed to build trust with older adults, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for Asian older adults.
• Programs will be adequately staffed to ensure participant safety and engagement.
• Program staff will partner with program participants to identify new opportunities and collaborations for older adult programming.
• Offer a variety of programs that address multiple aspects of well-being, including social, intellectual, educational, spiritual, cultural, physical, and emotional needs.
• Agencies shall develop and maintain program resources, including information tailored to the population they serve.
• Outreach, activities, and outcomes must be documented and submitted to the county area agency on aging for auditing and reporting purposes.
• Agencies must demonstrate the ability to manage all required fiscal and reporting requirements. - Outreach - vendors shall:
• Demonstrate past experience of working with and providing outreach to the target population(s).
• Establish and/or maintain strong neighborhood/community partnerships.
• Conduct community-based outreach to reach isolated, low-income and non-participatory older adults.
• Use accessible marketing materials tailored to the linguistic and cultural needs of the target communities.
• Collaborate with other agencies and communities for cross promotion of services.
• Provide presentations to groups and potential sponsors to promote programming.
- Coordination and implementation
• Demonstrate effective working relationships with community service providers, neighborhood centers, and nutrition sites serving older adults to increase the programming and resource options available to them.
• Develop events and activities that increase access to educational, health and wellness, social, and recreational opportunities, supporting older adults in aging in place.
• Programs must address the transportation challenges of the participants by:
1. Implementing strategies to promote and provide accessible transportation
2. Considering place-based activities within the neighborhoods where participants reside.
