The vendor is required to provide for worker's compensation (WC) pharmaceutical benefits management (PBM) services and intends to use.
- Ensure timely delivery of, and payment for, pharmaceuticals at a cost savings to the state.
- By utilizing WC PBM services, the state is continuing to cut costs and decrease the overall escalation of prescription medications for injured state employees.
- WC PBM services establish a network of pharmacies across the state which in turn increases efficiencies between the state, as the payer, the injured state employee, and the provider.
- WC PBM services also allow for increased efficiency in responsiveness and automation, reflected in overall prescription WC cost savings.
- Ensure the injured state employee is receiving the best quality pharmaceuticals and that such pharmaceuticals are being delivered in a timely manner;
- Eliminate wasteful, excessive, and inappropriate pharmaceutical services;
- Achieve significant cost savings in pharmaceutical spending, through the use of management programs like generics, dose consolidation, lower cost alternatives, and pill splitting;
- Obtain complete transparency in WC PBM pricing.
