Virtual Desktop and Application Services

The Vendor is required to provide to support the virtualization of computer lab applications across its member institutions. 
- Provide students, faculty, and staff with 24/7 remote access to desktop environments and/or licensed software and applications. Please note that the specific software and applications will vary by campus.
- The solutions must be a fully managed, cloud-based environment that supports 24/7 access to virtual desktops and applications, with centralized management and integration with institutional identity systems.
- Solution should enable secure, scalable, and flexible access to licensed software and desktop environments for students, faculty, and staff.
- The solution must be a hosted service.
- Solution must support uninterrupted access, ensuring availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.
- Solution accommodates temporary or permanent capacity expansion. Include details on scalability, provisioning timelines, and any associated costs or licensing considerations.
- Solution manages user identities and control access to applications.
- Details on authentication methods, role-based access, integration with identity providers, and any support for single sign-on (SSO).
- User privileges are managed within your solution to control access to individual applications.
- Solution enables customization, especially for non-core platform features. For example, users should be able to adjust display settings (such as resolution), storage options (like choosing storage locations), and security configurations (including user permissions). Highlight any other customization options available to tailor the system to specific business or user needs.
- Solution enables various virtual machine (VM) customization tiers for Performance (e.g., high memory, high CPU, GPU-enabled).
- The solution must allow users to easily access extra CPU and GPU resources, including for multi-day sessions—when local compute power is insufficient.
- Solutions provides video and audio optimization capabilities that offload rendering from the virtual machine to the physical endpoint.
- Solution support various operating systems on the endpoint, including Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, Linux, thin client, iOS, iPadOS and Android, with a native agent and feature set that is not limited to access from within a browser.
- Solution should support the utilization of existing university third-party software license agreements, including named, seat-based, or enterprise licenses.
