The vendor required to provide hosted disaster recovery and backup solution must provide ‘state of the art’ protection of data intended to help districts to meet their requirements for retention of data.
- Requirement:
• Provide dedicated storage capacity to the district;
• Provide integrated data protection workflow;
• Provide fully automated services which will include:
o Monitoring critical processes including:
1. Backup jobs
2. Restore jobs
3. File transfers between all server nodes both at local terminals and at the offsite location
4. Transfer protocols by both FTPS and https
• Provide automated proactive problem identification and resolution
• Provide encrypted file and data transfer (in transit to cloud) using 256-bit or better encryption and SSL technology
• Provide bandwidth throttling
• Provide continuous [backup] data protection (CDP)
• All services must utilize web-based management
• Mobile applications for android and iPhone to manage backups 'on the go.' (optional)
• Provide “point in time data restoration” (versioning for office 365 and google apps)
• Provide dedicated “on site” appliance(s) with capabilities of supporting requested storage requirements along with supporting equipment, which will remain the property of the respondent, to provide local data storage repository for rapid data restoration with the following features:
o Local restoration buffer that can retain pre-determined periods of time i.e., days, weeks, etc.
o Aggregated encrypted data
o Unified data transfer thereby guaranteeing that bandwidth allocations are followed
• Provide database and open file protection
• Virtualization:
o Provide backup of virtual machines to a local device, the cloud, or both
o Provide backup of physical machines to a local virtual machine (bare metal restore)
o Provide VM recovery (restore full images from the cloud)
o Provide local virtualization ransomware check for boot up scans
o Provide block-level deduplication
o Provide flexible data retention
• Provide data retention for seven (7) years
o Daily for (2) weeks, all revisions are kept
o Weekly revisions kept for (6) weeks
o Monthly for (1) year, after a year, a single revision is kept from that year.
o Total (7) seven years of data must be retrievable and restorable.
o Daily snapshots of data retained for (1) month
o Historical backups, when provided to respondent by current vendor (or incumbent), will be responsible for putting it in ‘their’ cloud
• Provide and list a secondary hosting site off of long island
• Provide a comprehensive solution to include all appliances, installation and configuration, training and support.
