The Vendor is required to provide for in public relations, government relations, and advocacy to support the county’s efforts in communicating the impacts of large-scale commercial solar projects on agricultural land, local infrastructure, and rural communities.
- Provide strategic communications, media engagement, and advocacy support to help the County raise awareness among policymakers, regulators, and the public regarding the cumulative effects of rapid solar development and the need for balanced, sustainable energy siting.
- Objective
• Develop and implement a coordinated public relations and advocacy strategy designed to:
o Inform and engage the public, local stakeholders, and state decision-makers about county’s position on responsible solar development.
o Elevate the county’s voice in regional and statewide discussions about agricultural land preservation and renewable energy siting.
o Build bipartisan awareness and support for policy adjustments that ensure local control and environmental balance in future solar siting decisions.
o Manage and proactively shape the county’s public image in the face of increasing media attention, including anticipated state and regional press coverage.
- Strategic Communications & Messaging
• Develop key messaging and media strategies highlighting the county’s concerns and goals regarding solar development.
• Craft position statements, talking points, and narrative frameworks for use by county officials.
- Media relations
• Serve as liaison with local, regional, and state media outlets (including county-based and agricultural press).
• Coordinate interviews, press releases, and feature stories focused on community impacts, land use, and state-level engagement.
• Prepare media responses and assist with managing investigative or adversarial reporting.
- Media content development
• Draft op-eds, press statements, videos, and photo content to accompany public messaging.
• Develop creative campaigns that highlight real-world impacts on rural character and agriculture.
- Reporting & evaluation
• Provide quarterly performance reports summarizing key metrics: media impressions, legislative interactions, and public engagement outcomes.
