Filter Media Services

The Vendor is required to provide filter media services on an “as needed” basis.
- Contractor requirements
• Have and operate a full-time, permanent business address with the ability to be reached by email and telephone.
• Provide furnishing and delivery of anthracite filter media and silica sand filter media for use in gravity filtration systems
- Water meter specifications
• Product data sheets and manufacturer specifications
• Filter media description and composition
• Sieve analysis and gradation reports
• Uniformity coefficient
• Specific gravity
• Acid solubility
• Safety data sheets (SDS)
• Certificate of analysis (COA)
- Quality assurance
• Filter media shall be supplied by a manufacturer regularly engaged in the production of filtration media for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Materials shall be new, clean, washed, and free of clay, shale, organic matter, or other foreign materials.
• All media for each facility shall be supplied from a single source and lot unless otherwise approved by the city.
• Non-conforming materials may be rejected and shall be replaced at no additional cost to the city
- Delivery, storage, and handling
• Schedule delivery by reaching out to the point of contact
• Media shall be delivered in bulk UV-protected super sacks with handles.
• Media to designated treatment facilities and coordinate delivery with plant operations.
• Protect media from contamination during shipment and storage.

1. Drinking water anthracite media properties:
• Effective size: 1.20 – 1.30 mm
• Uniformity coefficient: ≤ 1.4
• Specific gravity: 1.4-1.7
2. Wastewater anthracite media properties:
• Effective size: 1.20 – 1.30 mm
• Uniformity coefficient: ≤ 1.4
• Specific gravity: 1.4-1.7.
