The vendor is required to provide program for improving parent-lea communication services for include:
1. Improve family-school communication and collaboration in special education
• Develop and conduct customized and accessible workshops and trainings that promote collaboration and effective communication between family and local education agencies (leas).
• Assist parents and schools to locate and utilize resources and information to assist with
developing appropriate individual education plans (IEPs).
• Develop and conduct surveys on program effectiveness
2. Provide technical assistance and leadership development for parents and professionals.
• Assist IEP teams with effective communication strategies to p
o Foster collaboration between families and districts
o Demonstrate effective communication strategies
o Facilitate communication to improve communication and understanding between families and districts
• Develop and conduct surveys on program effectiveness
• Provide technical assistance and resources to parents, schools and professionals via phone, email and in person.
o Provide resources for effective communication and IEP facilitation
o Provide resources for developing skills and knowledge on individuals with disabilities education act (idea) and effective decision making
o Provide resources on idea and dispute resolution
o Develop and conduct surveys on program effectiveness
3. Provide effective management of the program.
• Onboarding for navigators to include:
o Overview of navigator program and job expectations
o Review process and procedures for working with parents and public-school districts.
o Review services and performances standards
o Communicate trainings offered by the state to consultants
• Hiring and maintaining a roster of qualified consultants identified by background and skill sets to include:
o Analyze
o Interview
o Reference check
o Contract completion
• Provide technical assistance support to consultants
o Provide technical assistance via phone, email, and in person to navigators
• Maintain a systematic case tracking, data collection and reporting.
o Consultants submit documentation and reports of their interactions with parents and schools
o Navigator coordinator processes consultant documentation and reports
o Compile and maintain internal daily activity log of contacts and work completed
o Maintains monthly activity reports and invoices to be submitted to the state
o Maintain internal data collection for use in completing final annual report due by January 31
o Conduct follow-up surveys upon closing a case to receive feedback on quality, usefulness and relevance of assistance and resources.
• Collaboration with special education programs
o One-hour webinar with consultants, state and navigator coordinator.
o Collaboration with the state and discuss program updates with navigator coordinator.
• Promote the navigator program o Highlight program to families and professionals during conferences, exhibits and presentations at state, regional and national conferences to include the navigator brochure and navigator fact sheet.
o Secure and maintain confidentiality of student and district information.
