The Vendor is required to provide temporary personnel at various locations in counties as a field service or meter technician and perform meter readings.
- Daily work schedules will consider average time, commute, and complexity of the job when issuing daily assignments.
- Work shall be defined as tasks assigned for completion in an 8-hour workday.
- Field Service Technician will be given a schedule of work to be completed daily. All work has an estimated time to complete each job. Completion of work assigned will be monitored through daily performance reports. The estimated field technician personnel is four (4), and usage is 250 days annually.
- Provide Field Services Technician (FST), on an as-needed basis:
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic metering systems.
• Install simple and advanced automatic metering systems.
• Install wiring for meter reading systems.
• Install, replace, and perform preventive maintenance on residential and commercial water meters, and remote reading devices.
• Investigate meter readings out of tolerance.
• Locate and perform jobs on appointment schedule.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and completes work tickets and reports.
• Perform emergency meter repairs.
• Record daily work activities and prepare periodic reports.
• Report, Repair, and replace malfunctioning, leaky, noisy water meters.
• Requisition supplies and consistently maintains inventory of meters and spare parts on vehicles.
• Take measurements and provide sketches of the location of meters and curb boxes.
• Use a wide variety of hand tools (some powered) in cramped and often adverse conditions.
• Should have ID, and phone number of supervisors with them at all times.
• Shall read, install and replace small residential and commercial water meters and their reading devices
• Disconnect and subsequently reconnect water/sewer services of delinquent customers.
• Lift heavy objects, up to 90 pounds, on a frequent basis.
- Meter Reader:
• Walk six (6) to ten (10) miles per day.
• Lift heavy objects, up to ninety (90) pounds, on a frequent basis.
• Read commercial maps to identify locations of businesses and residences.
• Complete quarterly residential and commercial and monthly commercial rural and difficult meter reading routes and records meter readings maintaining a high degree of accuracy and daily route completion.
• Check to see that meters are functioning properly, and reports broken glass, lids, and other defects by use of a published two-digit code.
• Report leaks and malfunctions in connection with the meter.
• Locate and read covered and submerged meters.
• Check or re-read questionable readings.
• Use small equipment such as a hand-held computer, hand-powered bilge pumps, gas powered pumps and blowers, and atmospheric analyzers as necessary.
• Ensure safe environment in meter vaults using atmospheric analyzers, fresh air blowers and gas-powered water pumps.
• Set up areas for safe access and entry into underground vaults or other areas.
