The vendor is required to provide forestry consulting services including analytical, field work, and harvest-related tasks on an as-needed basis.
• Write silvicultural prescriptions to implement recommendations in forest stewardship plans.
• Expertise in forest growth modeling using FVS, FPS, or similar software.
• Layout timber sales incorporating silvicultural prescriptions in accordance with forest practice regulations and client objectives.
• Assist with public outreach and presentations regarding active forest stewardship practices.
• Cruising: determine value and volume of timber prior to a harvest or thinning.
• Assist in preparing contract language and solicitations for commercial and noncommercial forestry projects.
• Assist with inspection, supervision, and compliance:
o Commercial thinning and harvest projects
o Road building and maintenance
o Tree planting
o Noncommercial forestry projects such as pre-commercial thins, seedling maintenance, invasive plant control, etc.
• Provide analysis and recommendations on logging systems, operations, and road maintenance requirements needed to comply with forest practices rules and client objectives.
• Design, measure, and analyze forest inventories for forest stewardship plans, prescription development, appraisal purposes, timber trespass inventories, etc. in accordance with client objectives and protocols.
• Conduct carbon sequestration analysis and modeling.
• Prepare and implement planting and reforestation plans to include planting compliance, vegetation management, survival surveys, and certification of successful stand establishment components.
• Assist with marketing of forest products.
• Prepare non-commercial vegetation management plans such as pre-commercial thins (PCTS), seedling maintenance, hardwood management, or other conditions.
• Prepare draft forest stewardship plans and maps including field work and written management recommendations
• Provide geographic information services (GIS) data usage and analysis including map making, spatial analysis, raster analysis,
• Provide advanced GIS analysis such as analyzing large remote-sensed data (lidar, digital aerial photogrammetry (DAP), or other datasets relevant to forest inventory and analyzing forest conditions over time and space.
