The vendor required to provide passenger information display systems (PIDS), including all associated hardware, software, documentation, and tools necessary for integration into authority rolling stock.
- The system shall comprise:
• Led signs – front destination sign (FDS), side destination sign (SDS), and interior message sign (IMS) (single and double sided).
• Lcd displays and lcd controller– passenger information screens.
• Master control unit (MCU) – primary controller managing data, messaging, and diagnostics.
• Local maintenance equipment (LME) – configuration and diagnostic interface for maintenance personnel.
- Software and communications requirements
1. Protocol and operation
• All led and lcd signage equipment shall communicate over ethernet 100base-tx using the same protocol and addressing schema as existing authority systems.
• The master control unit (MCU) shall transmit institute 1477-compliant messages to all connected displays and maintain time synchronization for deterministic updates.
2. Software documentation
• Supplier shall provide the full type-5 set: software requirements specification (SRS), SDD, SVVP, SVD, SCMP, SQAP, STR (test reports), user and maintenance manuals.
• Documents shall describe interfaces, data handling, communication logic, luminance control algorithms, configuration parameters, and error handling.
• Deliverables to be in native editable and pdf formats.
3. Software testing and validation
• Unit, integration, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and system testing are required with full regression on each firmware release.
• Test results shall demonstrate correct message handling, communication reliability, error recovery, luminance control behavior, and proper operation during loss-of-communication.
