The vendor required to provide automated titration system must be a standalone, fully operable unit and include all of the necessary components.
- Requirements
1. Instrument hardware requirements
• Testing principle: the system must be capable of automating titrations by accurately pumping small and accurate volumes of titrant and taking a precise PH measurement over time.
• Automation: the system shall support automated reagent dispensing, sample handling, and electrode rinsing.
• Instrument method: the system must be capable of measuring a sample for any combination of the following three parameters: PH, conductivity, and total alkalinity.
• Instrument components: the system shall include all necessary hardware, software, pc and accessories to support routine analysis.
2. Analytical performance and analyte coverage
• Analyte coverage: the system must be capable of measuring a sample for any combination of the following three parameters: PH, conductivity, and total alkalinity.
• PH requirements:
o The system shall measure PH across a range of 0-14 PH units.
o Accuracy of PH readings shall be ± 0.01 PH units.
o Automatic temperature compensation
• Conductivity requirements
o The system shall measure conductivity across a minimum range of 10 ΜS and CM to 200 MS/CM.
o Measurement accuracy shall be ± 1% of reading or better.
o Automatic temperature compensation.
• Alkalinity requirements
o The system shall allow programmable titration endpoints (e.g., PH 8.3 and 4.5).
o The system shall report alkalinity in standard units of mg/l as caco3.
o The system shall be capable of measuring alkalinity down to 3.5 mg/l caco3.
• Alkalinity requirements: the system shall be capable of measuring across the range of 3.5 to 1,500 mg/l caco3 without changing titrant strength.
• EPA compliance: the system and analysis method must be EPA compliant to the following methods: PH (150.1), conductivity (120.1), and alkalinity (310.1)
3. Computer and control software requirements
• Operating system: computer must be running on most recent version of windows
• Networking: the computer must support a wired network connection via ethernet
• LIMS interfacing: control software supports a DataStream interface connection to LIMS
• User control:
o The instrument operating system and software applications should support access control.
o This includes, but is not limited to, support for multiple user accounts, password protection, role-based access control, user session monitoring, and change audit logging.
